Have You Tried the NEW La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5+ Cleansing Gel

La Roche-Posay launched Effaclar Supramolecular pore and oil corrector. It is an innovation that changes everything, the game, as La Roche Posay promises. With its high concentration of Vitamin B5, Cicaplast Baume B5+ plumps up skin while helping to repair the skin structure deep down.

Let’s break down all the goodness of Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) of what it contributes to the skin. Panthenol as it is commonly referred to as, or pro-vitamin B5, powerhouse that is highly tolerated by all skin types including highly sensitive, acne-prone or compromised skin.

Panthenol is considered to be a triple-action in benefits. Panthenol is unique because it doesn’t just sit on the skin; it alters how your skin behaves dynamically through these three main actions:

  1. Dual-Action Hydrator (Humectant + Emollient): As a humectant, it acts like a magnet to bind and pull water into the outer layer of the skin. As an emollient, it seals those gaps between peeling skin cells, keeping the complexion soft, smooth and flexible.
  2. Barrier Repair Master: B5 is a precursor to Coenzyme A, which the skin uses to build essential fatty acids and ceramides. Clinical studies show that regular use drastically reduces Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL)—in other words, it patches up a broken skin barrier so the skin stops losing its own moisture.
  3. Powerful Anti-Inflammatory: It suppresses systemic skin irritation and redness. It accelerates cell turnover and wound healing, making it the absolute gold-standard ingredient for treating burns, cuts, eczema and skin raw from over-exfoliating.

That pro-vitamin, Vitamin B5 is sure a super power of a vitamin, isn’t it?

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ is perfect for oily skin types.

This formula is an ultra-gentle, foaming face, body and scalp wash inspired by Microbiome Science. Specifically formulated for sensitive and fragilized skin (due to dryness), it combines the purifying Biomadefense™ complex [Zinc, Manganese, Copper + 8% Sucrose] with 5% Panthenol (Vitamin B5).

This non-drying, physiological pH formula gently cleanses and washes bacteria away while instantly soothing irritation and reducing dryness. It preserves the skin’s moisture barrier and forms a protective film to intensely hydrate and support skin relipidization.

Stacey Says:

I want to take a moment to discuss what does over-exfoliating entail?

If the beads in an exfoliator/scrub are thick/big it becomes harsh on the skin if used more than once a week. It really doesn’t need to be used more than once a week due to the fact that these exfoliators dig deep into the pores to remove dirt, dead skin cells, impurities, bacteria, environmental stressors. Meaning these types of exfoliators/scrubs if used more than once a week tend to lead to over-exfoliation. When the skin has been over-exfoliation can actually cause more harm to the skin than good, by damaging the skin. These exfoliants/scrubs ensure skin cells grow to its full capacity. For those with oily skin, this helps to ensure oil production is more balanced when skin cells are produced.

Using beads that are small in an exfoliant/scrub it is gentler on the skin. This entails the exfoliant typically is surface level. What does this mean? They remove dead skin cells, for example to what lays on the surface of the pores and skin cells. It typically does not dig deep.

There are other contributions as to why oil tends to over produce causing oily skin types. One of those reasons tend to be when skin cells do not produce to its full capacity, with dead skin cells not being fully removed, stressors, environmental stressors, impurities remain.

Stacey Says: This is a pro-tip about the usage of exfoliators/scrubs., coming from a certified makeup professional makeup artist, whom has learned skin-care from dermatologists, estheticians in one of the top two make artistry schools in Toronto, and an industry-based school and by attending seminars through such dermatology-based companies/brands from La Roche Posay to Vichy, and other companies/brands such as Dior, and more. This certified professional makeup artist has facilitated skincare-based seminars previously as well.
