A moisture‑restoring plan for tight, thirsty, dull skin.

Dehydrated skin isn’t dry — it’s missing water, not oil. The goal is to restore hydration, stop moisture loss, and rebuild a healthy, plump surface.

1. Switch to a Gentle, Hydrating Cleanser
Avoid foaming, stripping, or “deep clean” formulas. Choose:
- gel‑cream or milk cleansers
- fragrance‑free
- pH‑balanced
This prevents further moisture loss.
2. Add a Water‑Binding Hydration Layer
This is the core step. Look for:
- hyaluronic acid (multi‑weight)
- glycerin
- panthenol (B5)
- aloe vera
- beta‑glucan
Apply to slightly damp skin to lock in water.
3. Seal It With an Occlusive or Humectant‑Rich Moisturiser
Dehydrated skin needs a seal to keep water in. Choose moisturisers with:
- ceramides
- squalane
- shea butter
- urea (low %)
- petrolatum (night‑time only if severely dehydrated)
This prevents transepidermal water loss.
4. Mist Strategically (Not Constantly)
Use a thermal water or humectant mist before serums and moisturiser. Don’t mist all day — it can backfire and dehydrate the skin further.
5. Avoid Actives for 3–5 Days
Pause:
- retinoids
- AHAs/BHAs
- benzoyl peroxide
- high‑strength vitamin C
These pull water from the skin when the barrier is compromised.
6. Protect With a Hydrating Sunscreen
Choose:
- gel‑cream textures
- hydrating mineral or hybrid formulas
- no mattifying finishes
Sun exposure worsens dehydration instantly.
7. Lifestyle Reset
- Increase water intake
- Reduce caffeine and alcohol
- Shorter, lukewarm showers
- Use a humidifier at night
Hydration is internal + external.
