Food and Beauty Recipes: Chamomile Tea

The calming and relaxing tea, chamomile tea is known for soothing. Long before it became a pantry staple or a bedtime tea, chamomile was woven into beauty culture.

Chamomile, with its honey‑warm aroma and beautiful golden hue has been used for centuries across Europe as both a calming tea and a gentle beautifier. In French beauty traditions, it was often steeped not just for drinking, but for rinsing the hair, soothing the complexion, and restoring a sense of inner equilibrium after long days spent in corsets, salons or the social demands of the era.

Today, chamomile still carries that same duality as it once did: nourishment for the body and softness for the skin.

Chamomile Tea for Beauty + Wellness

Skin Soothing
Chamomile’s natural anti‑inflammatory properties make it ideal for calming redness, irritation or the subtle fatigue that shows up on the face after a long day. A cooled chamomile infusion can be used as a gentle facial rinse or soaked into cotton pads as a calming compress.

Brightening the Complexion
Historically, women used chamomile water to revive dull skin. Its mild brightening effect gives the complexion a soft, refreshed glow, the kind of glow that is associated with quiet mornings, fresh air and un-hurried routines.

Hair Softening
Chamomile tea has long been used to enhance natural highlights in lighter hair tones, giving a sun‑kissed shimmer without chemicals. Even for darker hair, it adds softness and shine.

Inner Calm
A warm cup in the evening helps the body to slow down, soften and release tension.

Simple Chamomile Ritual

  • Steep 2–3 chamomile tea bags in hot water.
  • Allow to cool completely.
  • Use as a facial rinse, hair rinse or soak cotton pads and rest them over the eyes for 10 minutes.
  • Sip a warm cup while you do it — beauty from the inside out.

Chamomile simply restores — quietly, gently, and consistently.

And sometimes, that’s the kind of beauty ritual we need most.
