1. Build the Architecture: The Extended Upper Line
De Rossi’s most defining step was the long, dense upper line that stretched far beyond the natural lash line. This wasn’t a flick — it was a graphic continuation that reshaped Taylor’s entire eye. The line travelled upward toward the temples, lifting the face and creating Cleopatra’s regal silhouette.
2. Add the Floating Crease Line
This is the part most modern tutorials miss. De Rossi drew a second line above the crease, parallel to the lid — inspired by Egyptian art. It created a sculptural, architectural frame around Taylor’s violet eyes.
3. Kohl‑Inspired Lower Lid
He lined the entire lower lash line with a thick, kohl‑style pencil, echoing ancient Egyptian murals. This grounded the look and balanced the dramatic upper structure.
4. Strong Brows to Match the Liner
The brows were heavily drawn and assertive so they wouldn’t disappear under the graphic liner. Brow + liner = two deliberate frames around the eye.
5. The Colour Story: Gold, Lapis, Emerald
De Rossi used colours pulled directly from Egyptian iconography:
- Gold for royalty
- Lapis blue for divinity
- Emerald green for ceremonial scenes These shades were used between the crease line and brow or on the lid depending on the scene.
6. The Product Type: Cake Liner
Taylor didn’t use liquid liner for Cleopatra. She used cake liner, softened with water — a technique confirmed by her assistant.
